Introduction

Kimanis Petroleum Training Centre (KTC) is a learning institution established by PETRONAS in 2011 and is currently managed by INSTEP under PETRONAS Technical Training Sdn. Bhd. (PTTSB). Situated in Kimanis, about 50km south of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, KTC is committed to develop and equip the youths of Sabah with the necessary skills and qualification for them to enrol in the oil & gas industry.

KTC offers Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) Industrial Instrumentation & Control, which is a 3-year full time training programme to produce skilled workers with necessary qualification for them to contribute and gain benefit from imperative agenda of East Malaysia Development Plan under Sabah-Sarawak Integrated Oil & Gas Projects (SSIOGP).

Equipped with state-of-the-art training facilities for on-board training programme, KTC received certification from Department of Skills Development (DSD) by Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia. Currently, SPM/SPVM leavers are the cohorts to the programme and their learnings are fully sponsored by PETRONAS.

The graduates of KTC are recognised by the industry in producing competent technicians, leading to high employability rate. As of 1 October 2021, a total of 152 students have graduated with 96% employment by various companies not limited to oil and gas industry.
