Posted date: 14 March 2022

Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP) reached out to a total of 2,772 students from 8 primary schools across Batu Rakit, Terengganu through its Back-to-School 2022 (BTS 2022) programme.

Each school received necessities such as stationeries, projectors, face masks, temperature scanners, hand sanitisers, as well as STEM-related books. The donations were handed over by Chief Executive Officer of INSTEP, Idris B Ibrahim to the representatives from the schools in the presence of Kuala Nerus District Education (PPD) Officer, Hamid B Yahya and Setiu District Education (PPD) Officer, Mohd Yasmin B Yusof during a Handover Ceremony at PPD Kuala Nerus on 13 March 2022.

Idris said, “The BTS 2022 programme is our annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in providing necessities to schools entering 2022 schooling term. It is not only aimed at easing the parents’ burden, but we also hope our support will further motivate the children and inspire them to continue studying hard in school.”

The schools benefited from the programme are SK Pagar Besi, SK Batu Rakit, SK Darat Batu Rakit, SK Maras, SK Pechah Rotan, SK Bukit Wan, SK Lembah Bidong, dan SK Merang.

“As a technology and technical training provider, our responsibilities and efforts go beyond accelerating competency development in the energy industry. We are also keen to nurture our future generation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to improve the lives of our children and the communities,” Idris added.

This CSR initiative is a collaboration between INSTEP and Jawatankuasa Masjid Al-Ehsan, as well as Badan Kebajikan Islam PETRONAS (BAKIP). Funds were collected via a Donation Drive activated among INSTEP staff and 100% of the fund was used to purchase the school necessities, books, and sanisiting kits.

“Guided by our winning aspiration to be a progressive solutions partner enriching energy workforce for a sustainable future, we will continue to explore more potential CSR initiatives to the less fortunate communities to contribute towards healthy educational growth.”, Idris concluded.
