The 2021 learners come from different backgrounds, including Geoscience, Process Engineering and Electromechanical Engineering, and they are specialised in Petroleum Engineering.

The training programme is part of the INPG Petroleum Engineering Master Programme’s 22-week internship. INSTEP has customised the OJT programme to suit the specific requirements of INPG Master Programme, which aims to provide learning opportunity in exploration and plant operation activities through OTJ training scheme in both upstream and downstream platforms environment.

This training programme is designed to be conducted at INSTEP Upstream Downstream Training Plant (UDTP) and live PETRONAS plants. All learners are required to complete their master thesis based on the case study given during their attachment at the plants.

“I cannot thank INSTEP enough for this successful collaboration since 2019. The first cohort has been a huge success. They are equipped with the right skills and knowledge in oil & gas industry, by applying what they have learnt at INSTEP when they came back to Senegal. INSTEP has the capability to shape our learners into an industry-ready, empowered and enabled workforce. We see the difference, and this is why we want to renew the experience and have more students coming to INSTEP this year,” said Mr. Aguibou.

Mr. Aguibou Ba, General Director of INPG emphasised on the importance of the continued partnership between INSTEP and INPG in enriching Senegalese energy workforce.

The opening ceremony kicked off 2 weeks of virtual orientation and training during their quarantine before they officially begin the OTJ training at UDTP.

“The UDTP is an effective platform for our learners from INPG to gain live plant experience, as it is the real translation of the real plant scenarios,” said Mr. Idris.

Mr. Idris Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of INSTEP gave his motivational speech to the Senegalese learners during the virtual opening ceremony.

“Making errors at UDTP allows you to reflect, learn, correct, and redo until you are fully equipped with skills to perform operational tasks at live plants safely and efficiently,” Mr. Idris added.

Mr. Abdoulaye Barro extended his sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the dedication provided by INPG, KOSMOS, BP and INSTEP, who made this collaboration a big success. He also applauded INSTEP on the high-level commitment in making talent development possible during this pandemic time.

Mr. Momath Kéba Diop, representing the fellow learners from INPG, expressed his gratitude towards INSTEP management team for the warm hospitality since their arrival at Malaysia.

As our tagline says, “Experiencing is Enriching”, INSTEP strives to continuously enrich Senegal local energy talents through experiential learning approach and wholesome campus experience, aligning with its aspiration to be Senegal’s valuable technical learning solutions partner.

We wish all the learners an enjoyable experience in this 6-month fit-for-purpose capability building journey.
