Embracing the spirit of “omotenashi” (customer centricity) and INSTEP commitment as a progressive solutions partner, INSTEP-INPEX strategic partnership continues to push boundaries in accelerating human capital development in the oil & gas industry as this is the fourth time INPEX, Japan’s largest oil & gas Exploration & Production company sends their engineers to INSTEP for training.

The first three (3) batches of learners underwent INSTEP’s 7-week ‘HSE-On the Job’ (OJT) training programme, which focuses on essential process of safety aspects and practices in the oil & gas industry. This time around, engineers from INPEX are here for a different training portfolio, which is 4-week ‘HSE-OJT Primary Course’ training programme.

(Left) Mr. Kobayashi, INPEX Manager was contented with the training programme and assured word-of-mouth recommendations to other Japanese companies. (Right) Mr. Idris, PTTSB CEO, presented token of appreciation to Mr. Kobayashi.

“We received a lot of positive feedbacks from the previous batches on the OJT training programmes. Complemented with advanced technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, INSTEP world class facilities render a holistic understanding and accelerate learners competency development,” said Mr. Kobayashi, INPEX Manager.

Coupled with blended learning approach (theoretical learning at classroom, hands-on learning at practical workshop and experiential learning at Upstream Downstream Training Plant (UDTP)), this training programme encompasses occupational and environmental safety aspects and practices in the oil & gas industry.

UDTP, the first-of-its-kind in the world, simulates real plant scenarios in a safe and controlled environment, which provides real workplace experience in generating job-ready engineers and technicians. Anchored on world class facilities and industry-experienced instructors, the learners have the opportunity to experience real hands-on HSE activities such as confined space, working at height, firefighting and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) at INSTEP very own Fire Training Ground. At the end of this 7-week training programme, the learners will be equipped with the required skills and knowledge on occupational safety and environment.

Mr. Kobayashi was impressed with INSTEP world class facility and advanced technology - the Virtual Reality.

The Shared Success of INSTEP-INPEX strategic partnership is realised when INPEX sees us beyond just a technical training provider, but trusted as a dedicated and reliable progressive solutions partner.
