INSTEP Strengthens Connection with African Countries

Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP) was delightfully invited to the Sub-Saharan African International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC) 2021, during which INSTEP’s products and offerings were exhibited to the African market and our leader was invited as a conference speaker.

SAIPEC was held virtually on 19 – 21 May 2021 with the theme “Post COVID-19: From Global Crisis to Global Opportunity”. This was the 5th edition of SAIPEC hosted by Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) and had brought together more than 300 participating companies and 6,000 professionals, exhibitors and experts in oil, gas and energy industry from across Sub Saharan Africa, Europe, United States and Asia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, PETAN’s Chairman Mr. Nicolas C. Odinuwe was pleased to witness the participation of global professionals in this auspicious event and he highlighted the importance of SAIPEC 2021 in adding strategies and opportunities in the oil, gas and energy sectors as well as to promote LNG, natural gas, petrochemicals, and associated industries in African countries.

Through topical debates and speaker sessions, SAIPEC 2021 offers direct access to the primary stakeholders and key players across the entire Sub-Saharan Africa supply and value chains. Participants had the great opportunity to browse through the sponsors and exhibitors, utilise the built-in networking platform to connect virtually with all the industry players. 

INSTEP was invited as one of the exhibiting companies to SAIPEC 2021.

INSTEP entered the scene in SAIPEC African Content Series, where the Head of Maintenance Academy, Mr. Wan Zulfakrurazi B Wan Ab Majid, delivered his speech on How INSTEP Accelerates Capability Development for Global Oil & Gas Industry. He highlighted the role of INSTEP as PETRONAS’ premier technical training and capability development centre, by offering various technical capability management approach to different countries such as Japan, Iraq, Gabon and Oman, to mention but a few.

Additionally, Mr. Wan Zul had the opportunity to showcase INSTEP’s campus and learning facilities virtually, especially our Upstream Downstream Training Plant (UDTP). UDTP is capable of simulating real plant scenarios in a safe environment for learners to perform hands-on training, while gaining the experience of problem-solving in real world scenarios. Through exhibition and virtual booth in the conference, the delegates were able to understand and appreciate INSTEP’s unique training offerings in accelerating capability development as a progressive technical learning solutions partner.

This three-day SAIPEC 2021 not only has extended worldwide networking amongst INSTEP and many industry experts, but also allows INSTEP to gain comprehensive, in-depth insights of the current energy industry needs and future market demand.
